A substantive reply examines the post at hand in a polite, yet critical manner. I expect that students will engage with the post and offer critical thinking, constructive criticism or thoughtful questions about the topic at hand. These should be at least a paragraph in length; quick comments like “I really liked your post-you did a good job!” are not advised. Substantive replies should be at least one paragraph, but no more than two, in length.
Professor comments:
. Your replies did not ask any questions of your classmates and did not engage with what they were talking about. All of your replies were summaries of the Harley et al. (2009) article that were summaries of your classmates summaries of that article.
