The papers you will need to summarize will be attached!!!!
Memos should be about 750 words. They cannot be more than 1200 words. They should do three main
things. (1) Succinctly summarize the main points of each reading (approximately 90% of the memo word
count), (2) briefly discuss the relevance of the readings for society today, for instance by incorporating
news or current events (approximately 7.5% of the memo word count), and (3) at the end of the memo,
pose 2-3 discussion questions (approximately 2.5% of the memo word count). Reading summaries fulfill
learning objective 1; analyzing the relevance of the readings for society today fulfills learning objective 4;
and discussion questions fulfill learning objective 2. Submit memos on Canvas no later than one hour
before the last class session of each unit.
