The “Descent of Inanna” is the oldest text we will read. It is full of symbolism that resonates in many other mythological systems found throughout different times and places. A unique aspect of this work is its matriarchal focus. Consider the fact that both of the most powerful deities are female. Why is this important? What does it say about that society?
