Eagle aviation- A made up aviation company, wanted to expand to Europe BUT a global pandemic occurred that halted all international travel for quite some time. Unfortunately, this happened shortly after Eagle Aviation began offering routes to Europe. After a large investment in expanding the fleet to accommodate the new routes, Eagle Aviation has taken quite a loss and is now determining how to recoup and reorganize.
Prepare a Strategic Decision Analysis regarding the above happenings (E.g., If you chose to expand to Europe, your strategic decision analysis should revolve around what to do in order to move forward after a failed strategy as a result of the global pandemic. And vice versa if you chose the domestic option. How do you move Eagle Aviation forward after a missed opportunity?)
Executive Summary – Identify the issue(s) affecting the organization, and succinctly convey the future direction, priorities, and impact.
Organizational/Situational Analysis:
Examine the internal and external factors influencing your decision initially and then after implementation of your decision.
Provide the cost-benefit analysis (or other analysis) used to support the direction of the strategic decision for moving Eagle Aviation forward after the failure.
Provide direction for how Eagle Aviation moves forward based on your after-action analysis and new knowledge gained from your analysis.
Reflection
Reflect on the failure and how you as a leader contributed to it. What should you have done differently in your initial decision regarding the direction Eagle Aviation expands? Was there information you missed that may have been helpful in your initial decision?
How do you grow your decision capability in learning from failure?
