In this week’s readings, we read of the cult and culture of celebrity and the characteristics of new religious movements (NRMs).
Given these marks of NRMs, name a celebrity (politician, entertainer, businessperson) who exhibits these traits and whether or not you think consumers, fans, or followers can become disciples. Is this a dangerous trend? Have celebrities become the new priests and prophets of our day?
