Prior to beginning this discussion post, you should have watched the overview video on the topic of Criminal Justice Reform and also completed the reading on the topic.
To participate in this discussion, you first make an initial post (worth up to 10 points). Then, you’re required to read and comment on two other posts written by your classmates (worth up to 5 points each). A maximum score of 20 points is possible. Posts are graded based on both content and writing.
Post requirements:
Rather than finding a separate article related to the issue, I would like for you to evaluate the reforms discussed this week. In reaction the the readings and the video, what do you see as the greatest advantages and limitations of the reforms? What are the most important areas for reform (in Louisiana and other states) moving forward?
Posts should be free from grammatical and spelling errors and must use correct sentence structure.
Both the initial post and your responses should reflect your own, independent work. See the discussion board rubric for information on how posts are graded.
Initial posts that are late will receive a reduced grade of 2 points per day late, up to two days. After 2 days, no points will be earned for an initial post. Response posts that are late will receive a reduced grade of 1 points per day late, up to two days. After 2 days, no points will be earned for response posts.
Be sure to ground your posts in the readings and video. Posts that do not tie into the concepts from the readings/video will receive either no or only partial credit.
In writing about these issues, you may choose to engage in political discussion, but such discussion must be civil.
