Project topic: Physically Disabled Persons Who Use Wheelchairs
Project Proposal: I would like to analyze persons with disability with a focus on physically disabled persons who use wheelchairs. I know they face several challenges and barriers to participation at the workplace or school. For example, they are likely to encounter various factors in their environment that create disability or limit their functioning, like unaccessible physical spaces that lack ramps for wheelchair use and lack of adaptive and assistive technologies. I would like to explore various ways through which workplaces and schools can limit these barriers and create conducive and safe spaces where this group can participate and interact with others. It is my wish to contribute to society by creating equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their beliefs and diversities and allow them to maximize their potentials. One of the resources that I will use is the article by Elizabeth Guffey, on Active Exclusion (Guffey, 2021).
