The purpose of the Application assignment is for you to apply reflective thinking and reflective writing skills to explain a current issue in healthcare and nurses’ action-based response to policy and advocacy. The assignment results in the creation of a (1) 3-to-5 page written paper and a (2) references page.
In preparation for a final written assignment and references page, complete these steps:
Step 1. Select
Select a current issue in healthcare that impacts quality, safety, or the nursing profession in general related to policy and advocacy.
Step 2. Review
Review the current literature related to the topic.
Step 3. Identify
Identify a policy change that may improve, impact, or resolve the issue.
Step 4. Describe
Describe the role of the nurse in policy and advocacy.
Step 5. Develop
Develop a 3- to 5-page paper addressing Steps 2-5, then apply the Kingdon model to the outline, and suggest a process for change in policy. The Kindgon model is located in the text.
Step 6. Reference
Include a references page with a minimum of three peer-reviewed journal articles (less than 5 years old).
The Application assignment will be graded on the quality and depth of relationships and response to all components of the assignment using the GEC Written Communication v.2B rubric.
