What is art? And what is the role of the viewer in making meaning/value in art?
1. Develop a 2-3 page response that examines and responds to the two main questions that have been the focus of our discussion and lectures from Weeks 1 and 2: What is Art? -and- What is the Role of the Viewer in Making Meaning/Value in Art?
2. In your discussion, use at least three examples from discussion forum interaction to support/explain how your ideas were reinforced or expanded by the responses of classmates. Be sure to explain your original thoughts/ideas and how your classmate added to or changed your thought process about art.
3. Cite your examples (quoting, paraphrasing) with APA in text citations, signal phrases and APA References entries. Refer to the short videos in our lecture notes for a refresher on APA (American Psychological Association) format for academic writing.
4. In your discussion, use at least two examples from Lecture Notes videos about art and the role of the viewer to support/explain how your ideas were reinforced or expanded by the videos. Be sure to explain your original idea and how the video added to or changed your thought process about art. Again, use APA in text citations, signal phrases and References list entries.
5. In your discussion, use at least two examples from the article in Week 2 Lecture Notes: “Audience Participation in Art and Design” to support/explain how your ideas were reinforced or expanded by reading this article. Be sure to explain your original thoughts and how the article added to or changed your thought process about art. Again, use APA in text citations, signal phrases and References list entries.
6. You may use other research sources if you’d like; however, this is not a requirement for Review Assignment 1.
7. Use standard college format: 12 point font, double spacing, paragraph indents, 1 inch margins, left justify margins.
8. Follow APA format for your short essay response. For this assignment, no Abstract page is required; however, a References page is required. Do not include the References page in the 2-3 page count for this assignment.
