Part 1
The next two clips combine the first chapter in our course, Introduction to Psychology. Each are important for understanding the history of the development of Psychology as a field and why we became a new discipline. Watch the two following videos:

After watching the two videos answer the questions below: REMEMBER WHEN ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS, KEEP THE QUESTIONS IN THE DOCUMENT. SIMPLY PUT YOUR THOROUGH RESPONSES BELOW EACH QUESTION. YOU CAN DELETE THE GRAPHIC IN YOUR DOCUMENT, BUT KEEP THE QUESTIONS IN…. SO THAT I SEE TO WHAT YOU ARE RESPONDING.
What were 5 main points in each of the videos? (It should be noted that when I ask about “main points,” I am asking for you to give me facts and details that you learned from the video. You are to demonstrate that you watched the video by bring out those facts/details. DO NOT SIMPLY TELL ME WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. For example, do NOT say, “It was about research and the different kinds of research.” That answer is not acceptable. I’m looking for facts and details.
Part II
If you worked in a research lab, in what kinds of research are you interested? Areas of research are so many. For example, some people study happiness, others study consumer buying behavior, while others study how people respond in social situations.
When you do a Google search on the area that you listed in #1, is there anyone who is conducting research in this area? When you do a Google search, see what you find. Who is the lead researcher? What kinds of research are they doing in their lab? You might want to try varying your search. For example, you might want to try “Research on happiness,” or “Happiness research.” What did you find? From what university or organization are they? Do they accept research assistants? IF YOU DON’T FIND ANY RESEARCH WHEN USING THE TERM IN WHICH YOU STATED YOUR WERE INTERESTED, THEN GO TO THE UCI WEBSITE (uci.edu ) AND LOOK IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. LOOK FOR WHAT RESEARCH IS BEING DONE AND THEN ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS ABOVE (IN #2). Hopefully, you find research some place in which you are interested, but if you don’t, then you still have to find something.
